FAQ

NEED HELP?

When is “The Tides of Me” being released?

I will be self publishing through Amazon KDP in October of 2019! It is so soon and me and my team are just finishing up the last bit of things before we released it! Thank you so much for asking! I appreciate all the love and support! I cannot wait to share it with you!

Where are you based?

I’m from Florida (Tampa Bay area) but I moved to Brooklyn, New York when I was 16 and I had lived in both places back and forth all of my adult life until 2015 when my husband and I decided to take a trip to the Philippines which is where we currently live!

Why the Philippines?

We had always wanted to travel to Asia and while we were living in our home in Florida, we had made some friends online with a few Filipinos who convinced us to come check it out! We had only planned to be here for 6 months when fate intervened and brought a beautiful and precious soul into our lives…

Philippines Hang out?

YES! I love to meet people and make new friends, especially people who love poetry and writing! If you are local, LMK! I would love to hang out, have a cup of coffee, and chat!

When did you start writing?

I started writing when I was just a kid! My first real memory of writing is when I was about 8 years old, my mom had set up a website page for me to share my stories that I had made about a fairy world! I never left home without a journal or notebook and a book as a teenager. I would always write lyrics/poems/stories. Writing has always been an outlet; an escape.

What is your creative process?

When I sit down to write, I need a cup of coffee (venti soy caramel latte, please) and my sound proof headphones. As far as writing tools, I switch back and forth often between my laptop, paper + fountain pen, and my iPhone 7+. I also write on the go a lot since I’m a mom of 3 and we homeschool (aka my kids have insane amount of activities) but I do get at least two days a week to sit down in the day time, alone, to write! (Thanks to my wonderful husband and our kid’s nanny, haha!)

Can you read my manuscript/poetry book/poem and critique it/write a review?

I can absolutely give you my opinion! I have only done this a few times for friends, etc but I’m always happy to read new work from other writers/ poets! Same for reading books and writing reviews! I would love to do it if I have the time! Just send me a message here on my website or an email and I will let you know if it’s possible!

Best writing advice when it comes to writers block?

WRITE!!! I don’t care if you write “BLAH BLAH BLAH” fifty times! Turn on some music (or not) and force yourself to sit and write. It will probably be garbage but writing is a habit. You have to make sure you sit down and you do it! Also, READ!!! Reading is the best way to get inspired and to have some brand new beautiful ideas running around in your mind!

Ideas for the next book?

Absolutely!! I’m already working on the next poetry book that I will release in the next year! I will be sharing stuff for that very soon as well!

Vegan? Why?

Yes!! Myself, husband, and three kids are all vegan. I became a vegetarian in 2008 and then went vegan in 2014 when I was pregnant with my last baby (Oliver) after I had decided the the dairy and egg industries were both as scary as the meat industry.

Any bomb recipes to share?

Hell yes! I have a blog post that I wrote here! Check it out! It has some vegan newbie tips and some of my families favorite recipes!

Where can we find your poetry?

I post new poetry/quotes almost everyday (sometimes twice a day) on my social media accounts which are just to the left of this page!

Collaborations?

I love to make friends and share words. Although I don’t do collaborations on poems themselves because I feel so attached to my poems and the feelings that go into them, I love to collaborate on projects! If you have an amazing project you want to tell me about, please do! If you would like to be interviewed as a featured poet for the newsletter and/or blog, let me know! I love to support other writers/artists! I will also be posting some contests and challenges which I would also love for you to join so we can create even more art as well as create conversations about poetry and writing!
